ACIA membership will entitle you to attend conferences and seminars given by well-known experts in their fields and at the same time enjoy camaraderie and network with others in the profession. Some members are able to obtain continuing education credits (CEUs) for their employers through these events. Members are also entitled to a listing in the Association directory, complementary use of the ACIA web site and receive event announcements and special event registration fee rates, as well as emails concerning job openings.
There are three levels of membership to choose from: Active, Associate, and Student. Active membership is reserved for those professionals who are currently employed as translators and/or interpreters; hold a degree in the fields of T & I; and/or hold a certification from a recognized interpreter accrediting body. Associate members are those who are interested in the T&I fields but not currently employed as translators or interpreters. Student membership is for those who are currently involved in an academic program at the time they submit their application. Associate and Student members pay reduced annual dues but may not hold office in the Association.
